Choosing between the Dryerbox 350 and Dryerbox 425 is primarily a matter of wall depth and exhaust direction. Both models provide a recessed connection area behind the dryer, helping protect the transition duct from being crushed when the dryer is pushed toward the wall.

For most installations, the choice is simple:

2×4 wall + upward exhaust → Dryerbox 350

2×6 wall + upward exhaust → Dryerbox 425

If the dryer exhaust needs to travel down through the floor, consider the Dryerbox 4D for a 2×6 wall rather than the 350 or 425.

Dryerbox 350: Designed for 2×4 Walls

The Dryerbox 350 is designed specifically for installations with 2×4 wall framing and upward exhaust.

Its shallower profile allows the box and exhaust connection to work within the limited depth of a typical 2×4 stud cavity. The top duct opening is ovalized to accommodate the restricted wall depth while still connecting to standard 4-inch dryer exhaust duct.

The additional wall depth allows the 425 to provide more room behind the connection. The manufacturer identifies the 425 as its most popular model, and it works particularly well where the dryer duct runs upward through the wall toward a roof or other approved termination.

350 = 2×4 wall

425 = 2×6 wall

What If My Dryer Vent Goes Down Through the Floor?

If the exhaust duct needs to travel downward rather than upward, don't select a box based solely on wall depth.

For a 2×6 wall with downward exhaust, the Dryerbox 4D is specifically designed for this configuration. Its bottom duct connection allows the dryer exhaust to transition downward through the wall cavity and floor.

Why Use a Recessed Dryer Vent Box?

Without a recessed connection, the dryer transition duct occupies space between the appliance and wall. Pushing the dryer too far back can crush or sharply bend that duct.

A properly selected recessed Dryerbox provides space for the transition duct behind the dryer, helping reduce restriction and allowing the appliance to sit closer to the wall.
